近年社會觀念改變，加上日本電影「送行者-禮儀師的樂章」，讓國人對禮儀師的工作有了進一步的認識。 據了解，現在國內僅有三所大專院校開設殯葬相關科系，但這２年舉辦的喪禮服務相關證照的考試，還是吸引千人報名。
殯葬業者表示，最近越來越多顧客要求將往生者打扮成藝人羅志祥、蔡依林、文英阿姨等樣貌。因此日前特地禮聘專業美髮師為公司的禮儀師開辦美容美髮課程。 目前殯葬業最夯的證照為美容、美髮及禮儀三種，頂尖的禮儀師年薪可達上百萬。
現任南華大學生死學系的講師表示，禮儀師除了要協助家屬處理喪事，有時還得幫家屬心理諮商，24小時為家屬服務。 雖然工作並不輕鬆，但想投入此行業的人，只要自己堅持目標，一定會有所成就的。
(Education) Morticians Study Cosmetology and Hairdressing as Mortuary Certifications Become Popular
Concepts in society have changed in recent years and the Japanese film Departures has given Taiwanese people some further understanding of the job of a mortician. The understanding is that though only three universities and colleges offer mortuary related majors in Taiwan, more than a thousand people were drawn to apply for funeral service related certifications held in the past two years.
A mortuary services company stated that as an increasing number of customers are requesting that the deceased be made up to resemble Show Luo, Jolin Tsai, or Aunt Wen-yin, they recently employed a professional hairdresser to teach a course on cosmetology and hairdressing for their morticians. These are the three most popular certifications in the mortuary industry right now: cosmetology, hairdressing, and mortuary services, where top morticians can earn over NTD1,000,000.
A lecturer currently employed at NanHua Universitys Department of Life-and-Death Studies stated that not only do morticians have to assist the remaining family members in funeral proceedings, they have to provide service 24 hours a day as sometimes family members require psychological consultation. Though the job is not easy, those who want to become involved in this career will definitely make accomplishments if they stick to their goals.
